Canton of Bern: Direct federal tax 2023, provisional invoices are sent out

Over 294,000 taxpayers in the Canton of Berne are currently receiving provisional invoices for direct federal tax. This is because they are expected to pay at least CHF 300 for the 2023 tax year.

A total of around CHF 775 million will be invoiced. Of the revenue, 19.6 percent remains in the canton’s coffers, while the municipalities and parishes receive 1.6 percent. The remaining amount goes to the federal government. Anyone who does not receive an invoice now will either not pay any direct federal tax or will pay it with the final invoice.

Once the 2023 tax return has been submitted, the amount actually owed for direct federal tax will be calculated and taken into account in the definitive final statement.
